BMW SA Unveils Ultra-Exclusive M2 Coupé RR and M 1000 RR M2 Editions

South Africa’s obsession with the M badge has reached a new milestone. BMW South Africa and BMW Motorrad have teamed up to create a tribute: a high-performance car-and-bike duo designed exclusively for the local market.

By pairing the M2 Coupé with the M 1000 RR (and its S 1000 RR sibling), BMW has created a visual bridge between two and four wheels.

The BMW M2 Coupé RR Edition: 1 of 10

The M2 is already a fan favourite in Mzansi, but the RR Edition turns the aggression up to eleven. With only 10 units destined for South African roads, this is a collector’s piece.

  • The Look: Finished in Black Sapphire Metallic, the RR Edition is defined by its black-and-red aero kit. This includes front and rear splitters with red inserts, a roof spoiler, and a flow-through boot spoiler.

  • The Stance: It sits 20mm lower thanks to M Performance suspension (sporting red springs) and rolls on staggered Jet Black wheels (20-inch front/21-inch rear).

  • The Sound: An Akrapovič exhaust system comes standard.

  • The Cabin: Inside, you'll find black seats with bold red bolsters and a 12 o’clock red marker on the steering wheel. Interestingly, this is the only M2 variant to come standard with a sunroof.

Availability: Five manuals and five automatics will arrive in the fourth quarter of 2026. Final pricing is expected at launch.

M 1000 RR M2 Edition

To mirror the car, the M 1000 RR M2 Edition takes the pinnacle of BMW’s superbike range and adds M2 DNA.

  • Design: Finished in Black Storm Metallic, it features striking red accents on the M carbon fibre wheels, fuel tank, and front fairings.

  • The "Winglets": The bike's aerodynamic winglets now bear the RR insignia in bright red.

  • The S 1000 RR Sibling: For those looking for the M2 look on SA’s best-selling sports bike, the S 1000 RR M2 Edition is also available, featuring red fairing accents and Design Option wheels for R406 950.

A Match Made in Munich (and Midrand)

While both the car and the bikes remain mechanically stock relative to their high-performance base models, the level of personalisation here is unprecedented for a local BMW collaboration.

The M 1000 RR M2 Edition is available immediately for R882 100 and serves as the perfect garage companion for the 10 lucky owners who secure the M2 RR Coupé later this year.
