Automotive News

Produced from 2002 until 2010, the 955 or first-generation of the Porsche Cayenne was a runaway success for the German premium automaker, finding many thousands of homes around the globe while also introduced the brand to a far wider audience than before. At the time of writing, there were nearly 170 examples listed on AutoTrader, you can view them here.

Those who own one of these first-generation models will know that they are rather expensive to maintain, but the payoff is that you get to drive a product with one of the most appealing badges on earth, in addition to the fact that they are rather affordable these days. We must recommend that if you choose to add these features to your vehicle that you have them installed by a professional.

1.Modern tyres

A common upgrade and indeed, a vital safety item are a set of new tyres for your vehicle. Modern rubber improves yearly, offering more grip, better performance, enhanced efficiency, and longer life. When it comes to the Cayenne, there are three tyre options for the owner, an energy saver, a high-performance road tyre or an off-road/all-terrain tyre, depending on what you are looking for. We found a variety of tyres for the Cayenne from Pirelli, which you can find here.

2.A lift kit

Many owners of the 955 generation Cayenne models use them for heavy off-road activities thanks to their potent powertrains, air suspension and four-wheel drive. A lift kit will endow your Cayenne with more off-road ability while not compromising much in the way of ride comfort as aftermarket systems can be integrated into the air suspension system.  We found a good example of a lift kit from EuroWise.com.

3.Thule roof rack

A roof rack increases the practicality of your vehicle and Thule have several options to choose from. We have used the Thule Force XT XL for the Cayenne, it provides 500-litres of space and can carry up to 75kg. You can view the Thule products here.
