First introduced in 2014, the Macan has been a revelation for the Porsche brand, offering a more accessible and compact SUV for those looking to get into the Stuttgart-based premium car maker. The brand recently unveiled a heavily updated Macan and we have all the details, as well as local pricing.
The heavily updated Macan is headed to local shores in January 2022!
After establishing itself as a runaway success for the Porsche brand, the Macan has finally been updated by the German manufacturer for the 2022 model year. Porsche South Africa has revealed all of the details as well as the pricing for the newcomer. Let's take a look at what we can expect.
The revised Macan features mildly tweaked exterior styling, changes to the interior and of course, more power from the petrol engine lineup.
New looks
Having already received some aesthetic updates a few years back, the exterior changes to the latest Macan are relatively mild, with a new front bumper that incorporates air intakes finished in the vehicle's body colour, LED headlights as standard and at the rear, there's a new black diffuser. The side profile gets a new Sport Design mirrors as standard as well as newly shaped side blades. Porsche has also added 14 new colours to the pallet, including the popular Python Green and Papaya Metallic displayed in the cars in the press pack.
Updated interior
The more noticeable changes can be seen inside, where the model inherits the same centre console seen in other Porsche products. The console features haptic feedback and provides a more minimalist look. Other additions include the analogue clock on top of the dashboard being standard equipment, a shorted gear lever, GT Sport steering wheel from the 911 range and a new 10.9-inch infotainment system that offers Apple CarPlay functionality and integrated navigation.
More power
The Macan range comes standard with the 7-speed PDK gearbox and all-wheel drive with each model benefitting from a power boost. The standard Macan now produces 195kW and 400Nm of torque from its 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, which allows it to sprint to 100km/h in 6.2 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono pack. The Macan S ditches the 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 in favour of a de-tuned version of the twin-turbo 2.9-litre V6, which produces 289kW and 520Nm in this application, allowing for a 0-100km/h time of 4.6 seconds when equipped with the Sports Chrono pack. The range-topping GTS model now produces 324kW and 550Nm of torque for a 0-100km/h time of 4.3 seconds with the Sport Chrono pack fitted, making the GTS a replacement for the previous Turbo model.
Pricing
Pricing for the updated Macan starts at R1 050 000 for the base model sans options, while the current flagship GTS will retails for R1 551 000, also before options while the mid-level Macan S will retail for R 1 271 000.
