A Forage Harvester Re-imagined for Soil Protection and Performance
The CLAAS JAGUAR 900 TERRA TRAC marks a significant evolution in forage harvesting. It blends the high capacity and intelligent systems of the JAGUAR series with a specialised track-drive system designed for minimal soil impact and superior field performance.
TERRA TRAC Drive System: Built for Soil, Built for Performance
Its factory-integrated crawler track drive concept sets the JAGUAR 900 TERRA TRAC apart. The TERRA TRAC system offers a large contact area and a fully suspended track module to reduce ground pressure, minimise field ruts, improve slope traction, and enable comfortable high-speed travel up to 40 km/h. When turning at headlands, the suspended track system reduces the contact area by about one-third, thereby protecting grass cover and soil structure— a feature rooted in research showing significantly lower soil pressure than wheeled machines.
Using several track widths (635 mm, 735 mm, 890 mm), the machine can maintain a transport width of around 3 m on narrower tracks for easier road movement while working wide in the field.
High Throughput Meets Smart Farming
Though the TERRA TRAC drive steals the limelight, the JAGUAR 900 series foundation brings full forage-harvester capability: high engine outputs (up to 925 hp in the series) paired with advanced chopping and kernel-processing systems via V-FLEX and MULTI CROP CRACKER technologies. With the TERRA TRAC model, operators benefit not only from high capacity but also from all-terrain adaptability.
Intelligent assistance systems such as CEMOS AUTO PERFORMANCE automatically optimise engine load and speed, helping to maintain productivity and minimise fuel consumption. In the 2023 upgrade, the intake PICK UP system was improved with speed-adjustment relative to ground speed, further enhancing crop flow consistency and reducing losses.
Operator Comfort and Field Efficiency
Inside the cab, operator comfort remains a priority. The large colour monitor, intuitive control layout and modern assistance systems provide a refined experience for long harvesting days. On the field side, the TERRA TRAC’s wide footprint and stable chassis mean less bouncing, better ride comfort and smoother operation even in challenging terrain.
Maintenance-wise, access is improved: the extended chassis required to accommodate the tracks also yields a larger maintenance compartment, easing service of key components like the corn cracker.
Adaptability to Field Conditions and Soil Sensitivity
The JAGUAR 900 TERRA TRAC is especially relevant in settings where soil structure, ground compaction, and field access are critical concerns. The track system allows for high-capacity work while protecting the soil, which is beneficial for grassland, wet areas, or regions where field integrity is important.
For contractors or farms dealing with slopes, soft ground or tight field widths, the combination of high output and track-based mobility presents a compelling option. On the flip side, buyers must consider transport logistics, as despite the narrow-track option, the machine remains large and heavy, and local dealer/service support for track systems may vary by region.
