5 Things You Need to Know About the New Fendt 720–726 Vario Gen7.1

The Fendt 700 Vario is Europe’s best-selling Fendt series. Now it’s back in Gen7.1 form with more muscle, efficiency, and innovative tech. Here are the five big updates you should know.

1. Smarter power for a broader range

The line-up now comes with DynamicPerformance (DP), which kicks in an extra 20 hp whenever hydraulics, PTO, or cooling need it. Power ranges between the 720 Vario, which has up to 116kW, and the latest addition, the 726 Vario, with up to 210kW. This mode perfectly fills the gap between the 724 and the flagship 728.

2. DLG Test Winner

The 724 Vario Gen7.1 smashed the independent DLG PowerMix test. Its Field work results showed 9% lower fuel use than the previous 724. Then there was war transport, with just 3.7 l/100 tkm, making it the most efficient tractor in the 170kW—240kW class. In fact, it even beat the top model, 728 Vario, for transport economy.

3. Tighter Turns, Softer Footprint

Thanks to the VarioDrive transmission and its clever pull-in turn effect, the 724 now spins around in just 10.5 m—a full meter tighter than before. That means less scuffing, more agility, and no fiddly gear changes when switching from field to road.

4. Built for the Road

About half a tractor’s life is spent on the road—and Fendt knows it. The Gen7.1 includes a hydraulic auxiliary brake + trailer brake assistant, stability control at 60 km/h, and tyre pressure regulation to cut rolling resistance. Add a 6.2-tonne payload and a 15-tonne gross weight rating, and you’ve got a road haulier with serious muscle.

5. Front Loader Specialist

The 700 series is also designed for loader work. The new Fendt Cargo 6.100 loaders (standard or Profi) hit a lift height of 4.85 m. The Profi version packs thoughtful extras like integrated weighing, memory functions, and speed-sensitive damping. Couple that with the tractor’s nimble turning and smooth four-wheel drive, and it’s a true loader champion.

The Bottom Line

The Fendt 720–726 Vario Gen7.1 isn’t just stronger—it’s smarter, thriftier, and more versatile. With record-breaking efficiency, a new top-end 726 model, and road manners to match its field performance, the 700 series remains the sweet spot in Fendt’s line-up.
