5 Things that you need to know about the latest McCormick X5
McCormick tractors has just introduced their latest X5 model which has been designed for customers looking for power and comfort. The new X5 tractor is ideal for open field and round the farm work. Here are 5 things that you need to know.
1. Dynamite in a small package
Designers have retained the compact size of the X5 which makes it easy to operate out in the field and storage yards. Despite its compact dimensions the X5 offers improved operator visibility and comfort. To broaden the appeal of the new X5 the company is offering it the range in two different trim levels: Premium, which is intended to completely satisfy all the customers’ needs, and Efficient, which offers entry-level specifications.
2. Powerhouse
In order to build on its reliability and performance, the new McCormick X5 makes use of a new engine. The new FPT F36 4-cylinder, 16-valve, 3.6-litre, Turbo Intercooler engine with Common Rail electronic injection is also equipped with EGR/DOC/DPF/SCR technology. Engineers have also placed the exhaust gas treatment system under the bonnet, thus ensuring maximum visibility from the driver’s seat. For efficiency purposes, the Common Rail engine ensures the precise delivery of the fuel required, and works in conjunction with the Memo Switch Engine, which stores and recalls the ideal engine speed for the implement being utilised.
The diesel tank’s capacity has also been increased to 135 litres, with an AdBlue tank of 13 litres. This ensures greater daily performance with a 10% reduction in fuel consumption and decreased emissions.
3. Lift capacity
Engineers have also fitted an all-new hydraulic circuit which has been designed to increase productivity, offering flow rates of up to 82 L/min. This translates into greater operational convenience for the operator, thanks to faster execution, the possibility of performing multiple operations simultaneously, reduced consumption, lower engine speeds, and decreased noise and vibrations.
4. Optimum traction
The new X5 makes use of an advanced Twin Lock differential system. This system, which simultaneously locks both the front and rear differentials, serves to maximise traction and grip. The system automatically engages and disengages the differential lock and four-wheel drive, making the operator’s job easier and more efficient.
5. Cabin comfort
When it comes to driving comfort for the operator, engineers have once again improved on the offering. The suspended front axle option which, combined with the new mechanically-suspended cab, allows the vehicle to better tackle uneven terrain, while at the same time providing greater safety and comfort under all working conditions. The cabin also features a 4-pillar structure which now offers a maximised glazed area in order to provide a 360° field of vision, thus facilitating work in tight spaces
Other niceties found inside the cabin include items such as a perfect automotive-style appearance complimented by an excellent air conditioning system. Other features include a reclining and telescopic steering wheel, ergonomic and intuitive controls, and a Bluetooth radio with a built-in hands-free microphone.
