What is covered under Porsche Taycan manufacturer car warranty?
With electric cars being introduced locally on a regular basis, some might wonder what exactly is covered under a manufacturer car warranty. We look at the Porsche Taycan to find out what the German automaker covers on their electric sedan.
When Porsche first revealed the Taycan 4S, Turbo and Turbo S models locally late in 2020, like with the original Panamera, some were sceptical if the model would take off. And like with the Panamera model, the Taycan has been well-received by the motoring media and the buying public after the initial test drives.
Now though Porsche offers a whole range of Taycan variants, some more focussed on comfort and range, some towards the ultimate performance and the Cross Turismo derivative, on off-road capability and space. However, all of the models have a few things in common like the electric motor in place of an internal combustion engine and a battery pack in place of a fuel tank. But what happens if something unexpected happened to your vehicle, how does the warranty apply?
Warranty
Customers will be happy to hear that the Porsche Taycan is sold with a 2-year / unlimited-kilometre warranty. Also included in the purchase price is a 3-year / 100 000km maintenance plan called the Porsche Driveplan. The latter assumes all the responsibilities of the manufacturer car warranty and thus owners can be assured that should something go wrong within a 3-year period, they will be covered.
Customers can also optionally extend the Driveplan to 5-years for even more peace of mind. For those wondering about the battery system in the Taycan, Porsche South Africa warrants the battery system for a period of 8-years and unlimited kilometres. Customers should note that the warranties will only remain intact provided the owner adheres to the routine maintenance schedule.
Furthermore, customers should also take into consideration that the Driveplan is designed for regular driving conditions and excludes any maintenance required due to track and other competitive activities. While the Driveplan won't fit your Taycan with new tyres, it will cover consumables such as brake pads and discs and will cover various parts in the event of a factory fault, ultimately it supersedes the regular warranties, and it is recommended to extend the term.
