The Volkswagen Cross Caddy was introduced locally towards the end of 2014. As the model is ageing, so is the components that keep it running perfectly, one such part is the battery. - 10mm socket bit.
- Replacement battery

Before replacing the battery, it is recommended to locate this code and keep it in a safe place. If you have purchased a used Volkswagen Cross Caddy, most dealerships store this code in the owners manual. You can also contact your nearest Volkswagen dealership to assist if you are unable to locate the security code.
Replacement steps:
Step 1: Turn off your vehicle and remove the key from the ignition.
Step 2: Locate the bonnet lever in the driver footwell of the vehicle and pull.
Step 3: Locate the bonnet release tab under the bonnet and open the engine bay. Secure the bonnet with the support strut.
Step 4: Locate the battery towards the right of the engine bay when standing in front of the vehicle.
Step 5: While some Caddy models provide a hard enclosure around the battery, your Cross Caddy most likely will have a softcover. Open the flap of the cover.
Step 6: Starting with the negative terminal indicated with a "-", use the 10mm socket bit with the socket wrench to loosen the nut. Once loose, stow the cable behind the battery, away from the terminal.
Step 7: Proceed to undo the bolt on the positive terminal, indicated with a "+", using the same socket and socket wrench. Be sure to stow the connector away from the terminal once undone.
Step 8: You can now remove the softcover or enclosure and carefully put it aside. To the left of the battery is a pipe, which you can carefully unclip from its position and place out of the way.
Step 9: Using the 10mm socket bit attached to the extender arm with the socket wrench, proceed to undo and remove the securing plate located on the left and at the base of the car battery.
Step 10: You can now remove the faulty battery and replace it with a new one. Be sure to position the new battery in the same position with the terminals correlating with how the used battery was positioned.
Step 11: You can now proceed to follow all the steps in reverse order to secure the new battery in place. Be sure to not overtighten any nuts.
