The Renault Clio is now in its 5th generation locally and the new Intens derivative has proven to be a popular seller for the French brand. Renault has equipped the Clio with a number of tech features that are very reliant on a constant supply of 12v power.

The average lifespan of a car battery is roughly 2-3 years. After this time period, a number of the systems in the vehicle will begin to function erratically due to low voltage.

You will need:

Replacement battery of correct size and amperage
12mm socket or wrench

Let's get it done

1. Open the bonnet

2. Locate the battery

3. Remove the negative battery terminal

4. Remove the positive battery terminal

5. Remove the hold-down bracket

6. Remove old battery

7. Install new battery

8. Assemble in reverse order
