"If it ain't broke, don't fix it." That's the mantra that has been around for decades and it's particularly pertinent to the tried and tested Mitsubishi ASX. The current ASX as we know it has been around since 2010 (globally) and has undergone an unprecedented 4 facelifts in that time. Clearly, Mitsubishi hit gold when they developed the third generation ASX and there's been no reason to change the basic recipe.
What you may have to change, is the battery though. Yup, it's one of those things that just doesn't last forever. So if you're sitting with a dead ASX, here's how you can change the battery, quick sticks!

Please note that disconnecting your battery will cause you to lose saved settings such as radio stations, presets and trip computers.
You will need:
- A replacement battery correct for your model
- Small pry bar or a flat-head screwdriver
- Phillips screwdriver
- 10mm socket (or 10mm spanner)
- Socket wrench
- Gloves and eye protection
How to:
1. Switch off the car and ensure that the handbrake is up and the car in neutral or Park (Auto gearboxes)
2. Locate the bonnet release in the driver's footwell and open the bonnet.
3. Open the bonnet and support with the supplied stay.
4. The battery is located under the air intake, behind the passenger headlight.
5. You will need to move the trim panel out of the way. This is done by prying off the 4x plastic rivets that hold it in place. Use the pry bar or flat-head screwdriver to do this carefully.
6. Lifting the trim panel will expose the two plastic screws that hold the air intake in place. Unscrew these partway and then pry them off of the air intake.
7. Pull the air intake away from the engine gently to remove it.
8. Undo the battery tie-down bracket with the 10mm socket/spanner.
9. Undo the negative terminal with the 10mm socket/spanner and remove it from the battery.
10. Undo the positive terminal with the 10mm socket/spanner and remove it from the battery.
11. Lift out the battery. Take care as batteries are very heavy.
12. Fit the new battery in the reverse sequence.
