The Lexus ES sedan is the Japanese offering in the luxury sedan segment. Rivalling vehicles such as the Audi A5, BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C Class the ES has long been the left field option for those not wanting to follow the Germans. Fitted with many high tech features that require sufficient power, the ES' system will become non-operational if power levels drop due to a bad battery.

You will need to replace the battery to get these systems working again. Replacing the battery is an easy enough task that you can do yourself at home with minimal tools. Here is how it's done.

You will need:

Replacement battery of correct amperage and size
10mm socket + driver or wrench

Let's get it done

1. Open the bonnet

2. Locate the battery

3. Use the 10mm to remove the negative (-) terminal

4. Use the 10mm to remove the positive (+) terminal

5. Use the 10mm to remove the hold down bracket

6. Exchange battery (Disconnecting the battery without a memory saver will erase all settings in the onboard computer)

7. Assemble in reverse order
