How to replace the car battery on a Lexus LS

We show you how to replace the main battery on a Lexus LS luxury sedan.

The Lexus LS range is the Japanese automakers' response to the powerhouse offerings from BMW's 7 series and Mercedes-Benz'  S Class. All these luxury land yachts require oodles of electrical power to run all the systems that make them so luxurious. The Lexus carries two batteries, one in the boot and one in the engine bay.

We are going to show you how to replace the battery in the engine bay.

 

You will need:

  • Replacement battery of correct amperage and frame size for your model.
  • 10mm wrench

 

 

Let's get it done

 

1. Open the bonnet

 

2. The battery is located at the base of the windscreen under a series of plastic covers.

 

3. Using the 10mm wrench, remove the negative terminal

 

4. Use the 10mm wrench to remove the positive terminal.

 

5. Use the 10mm wrench to remove the hold down bracket.

 

6. Slide the battery forward and carefully remove.

 

7. Install new battery and reconnect everything in reverse.
