1. There are only two models available
Currently, the least expensive new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class you can buy in South Africa is the S560 model, which retails for R 2 707 915. It has a 4.0-litre V8 bi-turbo petrol engine, 345 kW and 700 Nm, a 9-G Tronic gearbox and 8 airbags. If you're a mob boss, you would appreciate that the Merc-Maybach's boot has 500 litres space available for transporting the bodies of undercover government agents (or anyone who dares double-cross you) or multiple silver-toned briefcases filled with freshly-laundered (but dirty) money.
The more powerful and opulent 6.0-litre V12 S650 can be had at the bargain price of R 3 499 999. The S650 has no less than 463 kW and a monstrous 1000 Nm of torque available. 2. The Chauffeur Package is included in the price
Because let's be honest, if you can buy a Merc-Maybach you can also afford to employ a permanent staff member to drive you to the country club or your summer residence perched against the cliffs of Clifton's third beach, which means you will be spending most of your travel time on one of the executive seats in the back.
The Chauffeur Package allows you to extend your seat much like you would a La-Z-Boy easy chair. With the press of a button, down goes the backrest and up goes the foot-rest, allowing you to nap on longer journeys or to put those hard-working legs up for a bit. While it's still not as flat as a business class bed, we reckon you'll be dozing off in not time at all. Black Nappa leather is standard.
The bad news is that you would still need to spend nearly R35k on the Rear Seat Comfort package with six different massage programmes as well as seat heating/cooling functionality. Fancy turning your S560 into a mobile office? R 35 000 adds two leather folding tables with stowage trays...

3. The two-tone paintwork alone will cost you R 240 120 extra...
...And there are three variations to make your S560 stand out from the crowd. Choose between Aragonite Silver / Anthracite Blue, Aragonite Silver/ Obsidian Black and Aragonite Silver / Ruby Black combinations. It looks gorgeous, but the fact that you can buy another car for the price of the paint seems a little excessive.
If you'd rather stick with a mono-tone metallic, there are a number of free colours available, or you could just stick with solid black to look more gangster. Nineteen-inch wheels are standard, but you can always go bigger if you have more money to burn.
