How to replace the car battery on a Lexus LX

Lexus owners may enjoy the left field approach to motoring but what happens when they wish to do some maintenance and can't even find a nut or bolt to turn? We take a look at the steps needed to change the car battery in a Lexus LX

Lexus has always been a left field option for those people who enjoy their luxury with a dash of quirkiness. Make no mistake, Lexus drums to their own beat , even when it comes to their engine bays. So what is one to do when the battery in your Lexus needs to be changed and you wish to take the DIY route?

No need to worry, we have a step by step guide for you to follow to get that battery changed.

 

You will need:

  • New battery of correct amperage and size
  • Plastic push rivet removal tool
  • 12mm socket and river

 

Let's get started!

 

1. You will need to remove the slew of plastic covers to access the battery.

 

2. Using the plastic push rivet removal tool, begin removing passenger side panel. 

 

3. Remove driver side panel

 

4. Remove centre panel

 

5. Locate battery hold down bracket

 

6. Remove bracket

 

7. Bracket hold down at the rear is held in place with a hook

 

8. Remove negative battery terminal

 

9. Remove positive terminal

 

10. Change out battery and replace everything in reverse order
