Audi's RS7 is a monstrous sportscar that the entire family can enjoy. Powered by a potent twin-turbocharged V8 engine paired with a slick 8-speed automatic gearbox along with the security of quattro all-wheel drive, the RS7 is a performance machine that can be enjoyed regardless of the prevailing weather conditions.
The RS7 is a technical tour de force, however, with all of the clever electronics comes the potential for gremlins. Thankfully, after a few years, an illuminated warning light on the dashboard of your RS7 could simply be caused by a battery that isn't supplying the optimal voltage to the various electrical systems. Replacing the battery on an RS7 is a relatively simple task which we will guide you through below.
You will need:
- Replacement battery of correct frame size and amperage
- 10mm Spanner
Let's get started!
1. Open the boot.
2. Lift the boot floor up by the handle and clip it to the underside of the deck lid with the built-in clip.
3. Lift out the spare wheel cover.
4. Remove the spare wheel retaining nut and remove the spare. (If equipped)
5. Locate the battery.
6. Loosen the nuts with the 10mm spanner and remove the bracket
7. Use the 10mm spanner to remove the negative terminal.
8. Use the 10mm spanner again to remove the positive terminal.
9. Remove the battery.
10. Install the new battery and replace all the terminals and brackets in reverse order.
The battery management function within the onboard computer needs to be reset so that the car knows that there is a new battery installed to ensure proper charge management. Without the use of a battery saver, you will lose all vehicle presets and data in the infotainment and trip computer, so a battery saver is recommended.
