Travelling at night already puts strain on the driver, as not only do they have to concentrate on following all the rules of the road in more difficult conditions, but also have to try and see dangerous obstacles such as potholes and react in time. The headlamps try to make this easier, however, what if one fails?
Luckily for owners, most of the earlier KIA Rio iterations makes replacing a lightbulb easy and convenient. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to replace a lightbulb by yourself.

- Replacement lightbulb available at your local KIA dealership or vehicle spares shop.

Replacement steps
Step 1: Park your vehicle in a well-lit area and switch the ignition to "Off". Locate the bonnet lever in the driverside footwell and pull.
Step 2: Go to the front of the vehicle and locate the bonnet release latch to open the engine bay. Secure the bonnet in place with the supporting strut located on the driver side of the bonnet interior.
Step 3: Move to the driver side headlamp and locate the circular cover behind the headlamp. Unscrew the cover to reveal the inside.
Step 4: Disconnect the electrical connector at the back of the lightbulb and stow it to the side.
Step 5: Press down on the securing pin to release the lightbulb from its position.
Step 6: Take care to remove the lightbulb avoiding touching the glass portion.
Step 7: Take the new lightbulb and align the location pins with the recesses in the headlamps cluster and proceed to insert the bulb without touching the glass.
Step 8: Secure the lightbulb in place with the securing pin and connect the electrical connector. You can now close the rear of the headlamps cluster with the removable cap.
Step 9: It is recommended to replace both headlamp bulbs at the same time to ensure both will last long. Merely repeat the steps on the passenger side unit and test the lights once done.
