How to change wiper blades on an Audi Q8
Have you ever been caught out in the rain with barely-working wiper blades? Not only is it not fun, but It is also not safe! That is why it is important to replace your wiper blades and here we will show you how to replace the wiper blades on an Audi Q8.
The Q8 is the flagship model for Audi's SUV and crossover ranges. The German automaker recently launched the SQ8 and RS Q8 variants, both offering more aggressive styling and performance. However, even vehicles like the Q8 needs to have maintenance and services done for them to perform at their best, some can be done by the owner.
One of these easy maintenance duties is changing the wiper blades. Made from a soft silicone-based rubber compound, wiper blades have an average lifespan of between six months and a year and a half depending on the operating conditions. If your vehicle is parked in the sun for extended periods, it could cause the rubber to harden and crack which could cause scratches to the windscreen.
What do you need?
- New wiper blades.
- Soft damp cloth
- About 5 minutes of your time.
Procedure
Step 1: Find a place for you to park your vehicle which will provide you with easy access to the wiper blades.
Step 2: Under the Vehicle Settings menu on the MMI system, you will find the Service and Maintenance option. Within this option, you will find an option to place the wiper blades in the service position, activate it to have the wipers move into a verticle position.
Step 3: Go to the driver side of the vehicle and proceed to lift the wiper blade arm away from the windscreen.
Step 4: Locate the retaining clip at the base of the wiper blade and proceed to pull it while sliding the wiper blade from the arm.
Step 5: Once the old wiper blade is removed, proceed to slide in the new blade until you hear the retaining clip make a clicking noise. Keep the wiper blade away from the windscreen.
Step 6: Repeat the replacement procedure on the passenger side of the vehicle and keep the wiper blade away from the windscreen.
Step 7: Using the damp cloth, proceed to clean the windscreen and try to remove all grime and dust. You can also use soapy water with a soft cloth.
Step 8: Once the windscreen is clean, you can now lower the wiper blades. Go back inside the vehicle and deselect the service position for the wiper blades to return to their standard position.
Step 9: You can now test the blades.
