Released in South Africa in June 2023, the Volvo C40 Recharge is a lower, sleeker crossover from the Swedish automaker that brought us the XC40. Featuring a 78kWh battery, Volvo claims the C40 can do 400km on a charge and delivers 300kW and 660Nm.

The Volvo C40 Recharge maintenance schedule is less expensive than its petrol-powered stablemates such as the XC40 as much less work needs to be done. We closely examine the warranty and owner's booklet to see what Volvo requires for their electric vehicles.

Scheduled maintenance

The scheduled maintenance of your Volvo C40 Recharge should be undertaken every 32,000 km's or every 24 months as per your owner's manual.

When you take your C40 in for its recommended service, the service technicians should only need to check your washer fluid, tyre inflation pressure, brake system fluid levels, and exterior lights.

The main work item will be an inspection of your battery, ensuring that it is operating as expected and the technicians may suggest improving or maintaining your vehicle battery's condition by altering driving styles, charging and storage.
