Before we get into the exact cost of deregistering your vehicle, let's have a look at why and how you can go about it!

You are required to request the deregistration of your motor vehicle under the following circumstances:

  1. If the vehicle has been deemed permanently unfit for use on public roads.
  2. In case the vehicle has been reported as stolen.
  3. If the vehicle has been permanently demolished.
  4. When the vehicle becomes exempt from registration.

Upon submission of your request, the registering authority will issue a deregistration certificate. Additionally, any motor vehicle that has not been licensed for four years will be automatically deregistered.

To initiate this process, please follow these steps:

  1. Visit your nearest registering authority.
  2. Submit the following documents:
    • A certified copy of your identity document.
    • A certified copy of proof of ownership of the motor vehicle (title holder).
    • Any required supporting documentation.
    • The vehicle's registration certificate.
  3. Fill out the "Application for Deregistration of Vehicle (ADV)" form.

Processing time: Your application will typically be processed on the same day.

Forms

You can obtain the "Application for Deregistration of Vehicle (ADV)" form from the registering authority or download it from the eNaTIS website.

Costs

The service itself is free of charge, but penalties and arrears may be applied if the application is submitted late.

For further assistance or inquiries, please contact your local department of transport.
