3 Suzuki Kizashi accessories you didn’t know you needed.

The Suzuki Kizashi was aimed at the premium sedan market but that hasn't stopped it from becoming a quality used-car option. We look at what can be done to customise one.

Car Ownership

Three years. That's about as short a lifespan as you're going to get for a model. This is the very fate that lay await for the mid-size Suzuki Kizashi sedan. Birthed into a world that was fast-changing, the Kizashi was doomed from the start. Suzuki was unable to see the rapid uptake of the SUV and the subsequent demise of the sedan and as a result, the Kizashi ended up as nothing more than a blip on the radar, a minuscule spec of dust on the timeline that is motoring history.

This was not the Kizashi's fault though. No, it was a mere victim of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. A year or two earlier and we may very well have seen more of them on the roads and Suzuki decide to bless us with a second generation. It was not to be and the valiant last-ditch effort by Suzuki to enter the premium sedan segment fell flat.

As a glorious by-product, you are now able to pick up a used Kizashi for next to nothing. I would be inclined to say that the Kizashi is the diamond in the rough, a massively under-appreciated model. If you're one of the lucky ones that have managed to snag up such a gem, you may be looking to personalize it, make it even more unique than it already is.

Limited local support.

Call up Suzuki and ask them about the Kizashi and they will know what you're talking about, but for anything other than service parts or repairs, they're not going to be able to help you much. Feel free to try to contact your local dealership and see if they have anything left over on the accessories side, but don't' get your hopes up.

OEM accessories included items such as dash mats, floor mats, boot liners and reverse camera mirrors.

Universal accessories

You always have the option of fitting universal fit items to the Kizashi or having items fitted by professionals who specialize in these areas. You would be able to upgrade the sound system to something a little more powerful and clear. The Kizashi uses 6.5-inch midrange drivers in the front and rear doors while a standard double DIN head unit will be accepted in the front facia but you may need a trim plate to finish off the installation.

The Kizashi was fitted with a range of wheels and tyres and it's only your pocket that will dictate what size wheel and tyre you spring for. The Kizashi will accept wheels with a 5x114.3 PCD and we'd recommend nothing more than a 19-inch wheel and tyre combination to ensure that you retain some ride quality.

Imported accessories

Quality-Tuning.eu is a European company that has several items listed for the Suzuki Kizashi. They range from drop-in performance filters to some styling modifications. Here are a few items from their Kizashi range.

This RDX front spoiler will add an air of sportiness to your Kizashi without requiring major modification. The Vario-X spoiler is made from PUR plastic and comes unpainted.

2. RDX rear spoiler

Complement the modifications you've done to the front of the car with a boot spoiler that will help round off the package. This PUR-IHS plastic spoiler comes with all the mounting hardware you need, but will need to be colour-matched before fitting it to your car.

3. Big brake kit

Quality-Tuning.eu also does a big brake kit that fits the Kizashi. If you've fettled the engine, you'll want to be able to stop. These K-Sport brake kits will require a small amount of modification to work but offer a selection of 4-pot or 6-pot callipers, slotted or cross-drilled rotors, a selection of colours and comes with hardware and braided brake lines.
