Which Opel Adam trim depreciates the fastest?

Introduced in 2014, the Opel Adam was a refreshing alternative to the likes of the Audi A1 and Mini One of the time. Sporting a chic exterior and tech-filled interior along with a reasonable list price, the little Adam would go on to be a popular model for the Opel brand.

At the time of its introduction in 2014, the Adam was available in standard as well as both Jam and Glam specifications. The standard model is powered by a 1.4-litre naturally aspirated engine while the Jam and Glam have a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine.

Our parameters for today’s depreciation comparison include a mileage restriction of 140 000km, model years 2014 and 2015 only and the requirement that there be at least three examples of each derivative with which to determine average depreciation.

We must also consider that the Jam models were available with the optional Twisted and OPC-Line packs

2014 & 2015 Opel Adam 1.4

New Price: R189 900

Average Current Price: R140 917

Value Retained: 74.20%

The base model Adam appears to hold its value rather well despite not having as many features as its more powerful turbocharged siblings, with impressive average value retention of 74.20%

2014 & 2015 Opel Adam Jam

New Price: R209 900

Average Current Price: R142 873

Value Retained: 68.06%

The Jam specification was by far the more numerous of the Adam models found in our search, with 17 examples qualifying for our specific criteria, with a very reasonable 68.06% value retention.

2014 & 2015 Opel Adam Glam

New Price: R232 900

Average Current Price: R138 900

Value Retained: 59.35%

The Glam models were the least popular and indeed lost the most value since new when looking at the data from the AutoTrader platform, however, there were two Glam models in our comparison that were very close to the 140 000km mileage cap, which may have affected their respective values.

Which one depreciates the fastest?

Looking at the data, it appears that the flagship Glam derivatives depreciate the most among the early Opel Adam models.
