Toyota is South Africa's best-selling automaker, and for good reason, since it offers reasonably priced and reliable products that retain their value well. This means that its latest release, the Vitz, which is based on a Suzuki Celerio, is destined for sales success if its forebears such as the Agya and Aygo are anything to go by!
While there are three Vitz models to choose from, there are only two spec levels, with the one difference between the pair of XR derivatives being the gearbox. Let's then compare the base model with the manual XR variant to determine which one is best. If you are looking at adding a Vitz to your garage but need to sell your car first, AutoTrader can get you an Instant Offer!

The base model Vitz features 14-inch steel wheels, a multifunction steering wheel and airconditioning. The base model also benefits from stability control, 2 airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchor points, rear PDC as well as ABS with EBA. There is also a 2-service/20 000km service plan as standard.

Moving up to the XR model, there is the same specification as in the Distinction but with 15-inch alloy wheels, a colour touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality, remote central locking, a USB port, front and rear electric windows, a rear windscreen wiper, electrically adjustable side mirrors and front fog lamps.
So which one is the best?
When looking at the two specification levels available in the Vitz range, the base model appears to have too little in the way of features, leading us to choose the admittedly more expensive, but better value XR model.
