The Range Rover model was created in 1969 and first took shape as a two-door SUV, later iterations saw two more doors added. The British Leyland product was created to go up against the likes of the Jeep Wagoneer but not in terms of luxury but rather capability. The interior featured vinyl seats and trim that could be hosed off when dirty and yet it was still more luxurious than Land Rover models that preceded it.

The modern Land Rover Range Rover line-up, however, is the definition of a luxury off-roader, offering not only the latest in creature comforts and infotainment systems but also advanced four-wheel-drive configurations. Currently, Land Rover offer four Range Rover variants, starting with the Evoque then Velar, then the Range Rover Sport and ultimately Range Rover.
1. Power
The Land Rover Range Rover line-up is powered by four engine units namely the TDV6, P400e, SDV8 and a Supercharged unit. The latter motor is also found in Range Rover Supercharged SVAutobiography models where the British automaker manages to extract even more power. All four motors are mated to an 8-speed CommandShift automatic transmission. For this article, we will be comparing the two diesel and two petrol motors found in the Vogue specification level.

2. Infotainment
One of the areas in which Land Rover is excelling is their infotainment systems and the standard safety and convenience features incorporated. Centrally feature a pair of 10.0-inch touchscreens which work in unison to create a more harmonious experience. Aptly named Touch Pro Duo, the lower screen allows drivers to conveniently access information or adjust climate control, seat or vehicle settings while the upper screen displays navigational maps or items from the Apple CarPlay or Andriod Auto inputs.
3. Driver-assist systems
Fitted as standard equipment is a rear camera, Lane Departure Warning and Emergency Braking, Front and Rear Park Distance Control, Cruise Control and Speed Limiter. Customers can opt for more advanced systems through a variety of 'packs' that have been created by the British automaker.
The first is named the Drive Pack and adds features such as Blind Spot Monitor, Adaptive Speed Limiter and Driver Condition Monitor. Furthermore, the Traffic Sign Recognition system is also now capable of reading more complex signals, such as Stop or No Entry signs. The next step up is the Drive Pro Pack which adds High-Speed Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Assist and Lane Keep Assist. It also incorporates an improved Adaptive Cruise Control with Queue Assist, which utilises a forward-looking camera and radar system.
Customers can also opt for the Park Pack, which sees the fitment of 360-degree Parking Aid, Reverse Traffic Monitor and Clear Exit Monitor, the latter a system to alert passengers if there are any hazards approaching from behind when exiting from the rear doors. A Park Pro Pack is also available and retains all the features of the Park Pack but gains Park Assist which is an advanced automated parking system that aid parallel and perpendicular parking.
