The Territory arrived on the scene looking almost like an alien next to its Ford stablemates, but it's a great product nonetheless, as we found on our Territory road trip. Read our 2024 review here.
If you're toying with buying a Territory, here's what you need to know.
1. The Territory is not an all-American product
If you think the Territory's shape and interior layout resemble those of some of the latest Chinese SUVs, you are right. The Ford Territory is the result of a joint venture between Ford and Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC).
Although it carries the Ford badge, its origins and development are deeply rooted in the Chinese automotive industry. Many global automakers tap into local markets to leverage their expertise.

2. It's one of the most powerful SUVs in the segment
The Territory gets a 1.8-litre turbocharged, 4-cylinder engine with a meaty 138 kW and 318 Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed automatic dual-clutch gearbox. Learn more about the Territory's engine, fuel economy and transmission here.

3. It's very spacious in the second row, and standard specification levels are high
The Territory is a large vehicle, and adults will have more than enough legroom in row two and the boot is big, too, making it perfect for families, even when taller family members have to ride along. (Want to buy a Territory? Here's how much you will pay every month.)
If you opt for the flagship model, the Territory also gets the latest in-car tech and semi-autonomous safety features. In our opinion, the entry-level Ambiente model is the best deal.
