Jaecoo J7 safety features
Even in the entry-level Vortex trim, the Jaecoo J7 is packed with safety features to both mitigate a collision and keep passengers safe in the event of an impact. Here are three features we think are the best on the new Chinese model.
1. Airbags
While most cars will incorporate at the minimum of two airbags, one for the driver and one for the front passenger, the Jaecoo range takes it a few steps further. The entry-level Vortex trim comes standard with seven airbags, while both the Glacier and Inferno guises come fitted with up to eight. The eighth unit takes shape as a central airbag that is positioned between the driver and front passenger to ensure the individuals do not hurt each other in the case of a collision.
2. Brake override
In the event that you get into a collision, it is quite stressful, and for inexperienced drivers or just drivers who panic, they can often depress both the brake and accelerator pedals, which could result in the vehicle not braking in time. For this, Jaecoo has incorporated a system that will ignore the accelerator pedal input in the event that the brake pedal is depressed at the same time and will prioritise deceleration.
3. 360-degree panoramic camera
Sometimes, in very crowded parking spaces or even out on an off-road trail, you might find yourself wanting more viewing angles to avoid damaging the vehicle or hitting something that is not in view from the driver's seat. Jaecoo has incorporated a 360-degree camera system in all three derivatives to allow drivers to see what obstacles are around the vehicle before navigating. This can both mitigate vehicle damage and even save lives.
Verdict
The Jaecoo J7 is very well-specified with safety systems as standard, however, for the most benefit in terms of included safety tech we would recommend the Glacier and Inferno derivatives as they have even a longer list of safety systems featuring as standard.
