The Mercedes-AMG C-Class has, for the longest time, taken the fight to the highly-revered BMW M3 with the Audi RS4 in tow, not too far behind. These stalwarts were, at one stage, so closely matched that separating the two of them on paper was nearly impossible. In the years that followed, the individual firms elected to leave this playground spat in the past and concentrate on making cars that appeal more to their core market. This has seen a slight shift in the way that Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG are developing their wares.
As a result, the Mercedes-AMG C-Class Cabriolet is more popular than before and your options even greater now than it was 10-years ago. It's a great way to enjoy open-air motoring; sumptuous leather and a just about all the power you need underfoot.
The Mercedes-AMG C-Class Cabriolet is currently available in three main flavours and has been around since 2016. The model range received a facelift in 2019 which saw additional tech and more than 1000 components changed in order to make it a better offering.

Mercedes-AMG C43 Cabriolet
The Mercedes-AMG C43 is a newer model to the lineup, featuring a smaller, 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 engine, rather than the big V8 of the 63. This package is good for 287 kW and 520 Nm torque, allowing the C43 to get to 100 km/h from a standstill in only 4.7-seconds.
Before you scoff at this seemingly "lesser" AMG model, many esteemed and respected journalists agree that this is the sweet spot of AMG C-Class ownership as it combines some of the performance of the larger C63 with manageable features and a lower fuel consumption.

Mercedes-AMG C63 Cabriolet
The C63 is the tried and tested recipe. Despite the fact that the 63 in the name no longer refers to the 6.2-litre displacement of the V8 (which was labelled 63 as a homage to older models), the new C63 is every bit as powerful as its predecessors. Gone is the big displacement V8 and in its place a twin-turbo (Bi-Turbo) 4.0-litre V8, similar to the one you will find in the glorious AMG GT.
You get 350 kW and 650 Nm from the powerplant and drive is sent to all four wheels through an electronically controlled 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system. This combination is good for a sprint time of only 4.2-seconds and a limited top speed of 250 km/h.

Mercedes-AMG C63 S Cabriolet
If the regular C63 is just too tame for you and you insist on having the absolute best in your garage, then the Mercedes-AMG C63 S 4MATIC+ is the one you want. It takes the C63 and dials it up to 11. It uses the same 40-litre biturbo V8 as the C63 but the power has been bumped up to an astronomical 375 kW and 700 Nm. This brings the 0 to 100 km/h sprint time down by 0.1-seconds to 4.1-seconds. The top speed remains limited at 250 km/h.
