Compact and affordable, the Tata Super Ace is the Shetland Pony of the light commercial vehicle space. While no longer offered for sale as a new vehicle, there are numerous models doing the rounds in the used-vehicle space. The Super Ace has only a few rivals, two of them are the Changan Star, which is distributed through the JMC dealer network, and the friendly Suzuki Super Carry. All three offer similar statistics and not a single one of them will break the bank.

Tata Super Ace
Sticking true to its workhorse and utilitarian nature, the Tata Super Ace is not fitted with any sort of infotainment system and is even devoid of a radio. Provisions are made for the aftermarket fitment of a radio system with a single-DIN slot being made available.

Changan Star
The Changan Star may not have the diesel power of the Super Ace, but it does have a very respectable 2.75-metre long bed with drop sides for easier loading. It's also fairly high-tech when one considers the opposition.
The Star is fitted with a simple, single-DIN radio with basic functionality. It allows for AM/FM reception and has an AUX input for audio streaming from selected devices. The single-line LCD screen will give you a basic readout and has a clock function for timekeeping.
The Star is without steering wheel controls and feeds the audio through a two-speaker audio system.
Suzuki Super Carry
With its friendly disposition and frugal nature, the Suzuki Super Carry is the ideal machine for those worried about the bottom line. The Super Carry is a little lighter in the pants with a load rating of only 750 kg, but it makes up for it in other areas.
Sadly, that area is not in the infotainment stakes and the Super Carry is also sold without an infotainment system as standard. Provisions are made for a single-DIN unit, opening up to the world of aftermarket head-units and audio systems.
