We're comparing the systems found in the latest Suzuki Grand Vitara to two of its nearest rivals in terms of price, the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro and the Haval Jolion.

Suzuki Grand Vitara

Depending on your chosen spec level, you will find either a 7-inch touchscreen or a high-definition 9-inch touchscreen in the Suzuki Grand Vitara. GL trims get the smaller 7-inch unit, while the GLX receives the 9-inch.
Both of these units feature wireless Android Auto (click here for our Android Auto connection guide) and Apple CarPlay, allowing you to mirror your mobile screen and use approved in-car apps. This is a growing trend, and most manufacturers are dropping features like onboard navigation as most users will mirror their phones instead.
Both units are devoid of physical touch controls, opting for touch panels on either side of the screen instead. You do get a multifunction steering wheel with audio controls, allowing the driver to control the track/station selection, volume, and mode.
The system also offers an AM/FM radio and accepts Bluetooth connection and USB input. On the GLX model, wireless charging is included. You get 6-speakers in GLX models, while GL models have to make do with 4.
Chery Tiggo 4 Pro

There are a number of Chery Tiggo 4 Pro models to choose from, but all models are fitted with a sizeable 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This system is the heart of the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro and is a major drawcard.
These units are equipped with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay but also feature a very intuitive and helpful voice assistant. This assistant is able to carry out several vehicle functions, such as closing windows and adjusting the cabin climate.
While the system accepts touch inputs, a handy row of shortcut buttons has been provided below the dashboard break. These allow for volume control, muting, powering on and off and quick access to the hand-free telephony. A multifunction steering wheel allows the driver to control the audio without letting go of the wheel.
The unit accepts Bluetooth connection and USB inputs and even has a DVD player, but it still has AM/FM tuning capabilities should you prefer the radio.
Haval Jolion

The Haval Jolion is a popular entry point into Haval ownership. This brand, which focuses solely on SUVs, is a division of GWM, and its offerings have proven to be well-equipped, even for entry-level models. All Haval Jolions are fitted with a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system that houses a great number of entertainment functions, vehicle controls, and cabin settings.
These units are equipped with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay but will also accept Bluetooth connections and input from USB. AM/FM receiver capabilities are included. Super Luxury trims feature wireless charging as well.
The only methods of interaction are either via the multifunction steering wheel or through the touchscreen, including volume control, with no physical buttons or knobs. This can be a little frustrating at times, especially when using screen mirroring, as the volume can then only be adjusted from the steering wheel or by exiting the mirroring and swiping to access the volume control. The same applies to climate controls, which are hidden more often than not.
Audio systems vary depending on the trim level, with either 4-speaker or 6-speaker systems plumbing audio into the cabin.
