What is it?
The Mahindra Genio can be had as a long-, single- or chassis cab, while double-cab models are also available in the used-car market. It's powered by a 4-cylinder mHawk Euro II turbodiesel engine, which is a decent, tried-and-trusted powerplant. It has an output of 88kW and 290 Nm.
The Genio has a 5-speed manual gearbox, 195mm of ground clearance, leaf spring suspension in the rear and independent coil spring suspension up front. Payloads vary from 1100kg to 1280kg. Fuel consumption is rated at around 8 litres per 100 km on the combined cycle.

Exterior features
The single- and double-cab models have electric side rearview mirrors, fog lamps, door side protection mouldings, and colour coded grille & side mirrors. All models feature side steps. Fog lamps are standard on single- and double-cab derivatives.
Interior features
Only the double-cab model has a rear mobile charging points, while all models have courtesy lamps and a digital clock. The double-cab model also comes with a sunglasses holder and DDAS (a digital drive assist system). All models seat two; the double cab seats five. The double-cab and single-cab models have a central armrest. A highlight in the double cab models is the foldable flight trays for rear passengers.
Comfort and convenience
All models have power steering, air-conditioning, central locking, and 2-DIN audio system. The double and single cab feature puddle lamps, as well as power windows. Also see the cupholders below.
The Mahindra Genio has the following safety features:

2. Front fog lamps (on single cab and double cab derivatives only),
3. Puddle lamps (they may actually prevent the odd ankle sprain),
4. Seatbelts,
5. Central locking,
6. An engine immobiliser.
