1. Exterior design
Opposed to the first Renault Captur launched in 2015, the Captur released in 2017 came with a prominent redesign. Cosmetic differences can be seen in the upper grille that now has finely-chromed edging, while there are full-LED Pure Vision Lights and C-shaped daytime running lights.
In addition, the latest Captur is available in funky colours and with two-tone paintwork. The newer Captur also has the option of a new 17” Black and Chrome Alloy wheel set, which are standard on the Dynamique models.
Ground clearance between the 2015 model and the 2017 model remain the same at 170 mm. However, the 2017 model received new skid plates built into the front and rear bumpers, with an optional fixed glass roof that brings in more light and air into the cabin.

2. Interior Design
The 2017 Captur came with a new leather steering wheel and optional heated leather seats (on Dynamique Models) that provided more support to ensure maximum driving comfort.
Additional improvements in the cabin included a discreet satin chrome trim, a new soft-touch dashboard and interior panels which envelop the occupants, a newly-designed gear lever, new multipurpose central storage options plus an innovative new front-row seat central armrest with a useful storage facility (on Dynamique Models). All these changes were made to increase the overall driving comfort and convenience in the car.
The 2017 Captur came fully equipped with the Renault MediaNav touchscreen integrated tablet (on Dynamique Models), F1-inspired turbo-engines, Hill-Start Assist and even keyless entry for added convenience.
The R&Go® application was also introduced into the 2017 Captur Blaze derivative. This easy-to-use and customizable interface offers access to advanced technology even from the entry-level model. Developed to enhance the driving experience, R&Go® is a smartphone/tablet multifunction application that adds innovative functionality to the vehicle.
Connected to the vehicle through the radio using Bluetooth®, this application enables remote control of the user’s car radio, with the smartphone screen presenting an extended dashboard to display additional features. A dedicated cradle which houses the smartphone/ tablet ensures safer and more comfortable use.
The R&Go® application allows access to four different universes: Multimedia, phone, vehicle and navigation, testimony to greater accessibility.
3. More models in the range
When the Captur was first launched in South Africa, only 3 models stood in the lineup:
- Captur 66kW Expression
- Captur 66kW Dynamique
- Captur 88kW EDC Dynamique
In 2017, when the model received some light revisions, Renault also offered buyers a more diverse engine and powerplant range by adding the 1.5 dCi Diesel engine and offering the 88kW derivative with a manual gearbox thereby extending the range to five models.
