As one of South Africa's best-selling vehicles and indeed, the most popular pre-owned vehicle on the AutoTrader website, Ford's Ranger is an important product for the American brand. Are these bakkies expensive to maintain, though?
It is impossible to work out exactly how much a vehicle will be to maintain since labour costs vary, however, we can work out how much the parts will cost and then compare the total price of the parts basket with key competitors to determine how expensive the Ranger is to maintain. It is important to note that a service plan is optional, and will affect the cost of maintaining the product, with a 6-year/90 000km plan taking care of basic servicing.
We consulted the most recent . This handy pricing guide features vehicles from various segments, but for our purposes today we will be focussing on the single and double cab bakkies, comparing the Ranger with two other locally produced models, namely the Toyota Hilux and the Nissan Navara.
