Electrifying drive
Unlike the Volvo XC40 P6 and P8 models which were repurposed electric versions of the popular European crossover SUV, the C40 Recharge is set to be an EV from the get-go. Released in South Africa mid-way through 2023, the C40 Recharge is lower, sleeker, and has a better range than most of its segment competitors. Delivering 300kW and 660 Nm from its 78kWh battery, a realistic range of 400km is possible.

Being so closely related to the XC40, it is safe to say that you can expect similar levels of build quality, fit and finish in the C40 and with the Swedish automaker's signature level of attention to detail, it is certain to be a crowd pleaser. With EV's being in the news for all the wrong reasons as of late, many consumers have questions surrounding their reliability.
Reliability Index
With the Volvo C40 Recharge being a very new vehicle and not many being sold locally, there is scant information concerning the reliability among consumers. Another factor to consider is that the C40 is an EV, and electric vehicles, in general, are not known for mechanical failure. It would be irresponsible to declare the Volvo C40 either reliable or problematic until further data has become available.
