S for Speed

The Haval Jolion has been a successful model for the Chinese automaker, being one of their bestsellers. This success has led to adding extra derivatives to their local lineup, the HEV hybrid and the sporty S model. The hybrid is focused on saving fuel while the S model is focused on performance and a dynamic drive.

As far as the performance of the S goes, it is important to keep in mind that this is a crossover SUV with a small turbo petrol engine, so what can you expect from the performance of this vehicle?

Off the line

In terms of out-and-out performance, the Jolion S won't be blowing your hair back with a 0-100km/h sprint of 8.2 seconds and a top speed of 195km/h, but for a family crossover, it's quite impressive. The 1.5l turbo petrol delivers 130kW and 270Nm, and the throttle response is quick enough that you can elicit some tyre squeal when engaging the launch control and blipping through the gears on the 7-speed DCT transmission if you are too aggressive, you do also have the option of simulated manual control with a set of paddle shifters.

Driven serenely, the Jolion S will return consumption figures of 7.5l/100km, and along with Traction Stability control and ABS, a rather dynamic drive can be achieved. This is not supercar performance but as we said, for a family SUV it is admirable and can be enjoyed by the whole family.
