Is the Hyundai Elantra a good car?
The last available Hyundai Elantra generation was a well-rounded package with a comprehensive set of features across its range. The Elantra aimed to be a strong competitor in the local compact sedan segment. You'll even find a range-topping 1.6-litre turbocharged 150 kW variant. The Elantra certainly delivered and it's a worthy vehicle for your attention if you're looking for a premium value compact sedan.
Who is the Hyundai Elantra a good car for?
The Hyundai Elantra is a good car for someone who wants a compact sedan with a good standard feature set. Perhaps even a small family which prefers a sedan rather over an SUV.
Is the Hyundai Elantra a good first car?
The Hyundai Elantra would make for a decent first car. It's small enough to manoeuvre and easy to pilot. We'd advise against the 150 kW Sports model though as it's too powerful for first-time drivers.
Is the Hyundai Elantra a good family car?
The Hyundai Elantra would make for a decent family car but rather for smaller families. The luggage is quite sizeable at 458 litres so the Elantra will handle the family errands fairly well.
Is there a Hybrid Hyundai Elantra?
There is a PHEV variant of this generation Hyundai Elantra but it was not available for sale in South Africa.

What does it look like?
Exterior
Interior
What is the Hyundai Elantra like inside?
The Hyundai Elantra has premium materials found in and around the cabin. In the range-topper 1.6 Turbo Elite Sport, you get red synthetic leather seats with a supple feel to them. The interior quality in this generation Elantra is top-notch for its price bracket. Even in the standard variants, they don't miss out on quality materials and feel. Overall, the Hyundai Elantra is a comfortable place to be in.
Style
The Hyundai Elantra's design is inspired by the concept of dynamic precision which consists of contoured lines making the Elantra have more of a sportier look and stance to it. There are highlights of chrome and black accents around the exterior with even a body kit on the 1.6 Turbo Elite model. All in all, it's an attractive vehicle to look and the 1.6 Turbo Elite makes that all the more sweeter.
