While the sheer size and ride height of the B40 Plus will inspire confidence in most drivers but it is for those exact reasons that it will take a little more time for a new driver to get used to the Chinese model. What’s it like to drive?
Reviewer's opinion
The traction control-based torque vectoring did have a habit of catching me out with the B40 Plus spinning a wheel for a brief moment before the differentials locked, redirecting the power to the wheel with traction. This saw me lurch over and out of the obstacles and required rather quick hands and reactions. While not ideal once you’re expecting it you learn to modulate the throttle with a little more finesses, easing into the traction control rather than trying to surprise it.

What does it look like?
Exterior
Interior
What is the BAIC B40 Plus like inside?
Looking at the interior, it is easy to see that the model has taken inspiration from German automakers from a design point of view. Customers can expect quilter door cards and circular air vents as well as a large 10-inch infotainment screen and even a digital gauge cluster. While many surfaces are constructed from plastics, the interior feels well put together.
Style
The exterior styling is bold and muscular with strong character lines found on most panels. Upfront the grill is reminiscent of a certain American automaker, however, different enough to make it unique to BAIC. The interior is also laid out in a modern fashion with much of the design resembling that of European and American SUVs. BAIC had even gone further to bring the exterior colour to the inside where many of the dashboard surfaces as well as the upholstery will match in tone.
