The Xpander is unnecessarily roomy inside for a first-time driver, so we would recommend something from the hatchback realm instead.

The Xpander has seating for seven and loads of room inside, making it a fantastic family car.

Is there a hybrid Mitsubishi Xpander?

There is only a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine in the range, which is paired with either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic gearbox.

What’s it like to drive?

Reviewer's opinion

"It would be easy to criticise the Xpander for having a slightly asthmatic 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine and archaic 4-speed automatic gearbox were it not for the fact that all of its key rivals within this segment have the same set-up. Out on the road, we found the product to be acceptably stable on the highway but it is really more suited to the urban environment.- Sean Nurse, AutoTrader
