A bakkie with a sunroof in sunny SA is rare, but which ones have this luxury feature?

Despite our hot and sunny weather, South Africans love a sunroof. It's almost strange that leisure bakkies, especially, don't have this feature, but some Chinese manufacturers have identified the gap in the market. Currently, three bakkies across two brands are endowed with this feature.

1. GWM P500

The P-Series is proving to be a hit, offering comfort and tech at an impressive price. The GWM P500 2.4T Super Luxury 4x4 (R889 900) and the GWM P500 2.0T HEV Ultra Luxury 4x4 (R999 000) have a standard sunroof, while the entry-level model lacks this feature.

2. Foton Tunland G7

The top-spec Foton Tunland G7 2.0TD double cab 4x4 AT LIMITED at R599 900 is an absolute steal and full of impressive technology. Considering what you're paying for similar tech in the major players, such as the Ford Ranger, you're getting a lot for very little.

How about other budget-minded bakkies?

You won't find a sunroof anywhere else, but the segment has exploded recently and has much to choose from. From the JAC T9 Hunter to the LDV T60, you don't need to spend megabucks to find the right workhorse leisure bakkie.
