FJ Cruiser

Toyota's quirky FJ Cruiser may be a bit long in the tooth, but there is no denying its incredible off-road credentials and indeed its capacious interior, which boasts 990-litres of loading space, meaning there is enough space for five humans and a dog.

Fortuner

As one of South Africa's best-selling SUVs, the Fortuner is one of the best attainable family vehicles currently on the market, offering space for seven occupants, or six humans and a dog or two.

Toyota Hilux

South Africa's best-selling vehicle, the Hilux, has a reputation for outstanding reliability, great resale value and high ownership satisfaction. While not ideal for a large family and a dog, the versatility of a bakkie means that it can be used for a large variety of applications.

Land Cruiser 300

Toyota's new flagship SUV is a technological tour de force that also offers a gigantic interior with up to 1 967-litres of loading space, with seating for seven, making it the best Toyota for a large family and their dog(s).

Land Cruiser Prado

Those looking for a slight upgrade over the Fortuner but cannot quite afford the latest Land Cruiser 300 will find the Prado to be a great middle-ground, offering seating for seven, and a boot that ranges from 104 to 974-litres and enough interior space to easily accommodate a family and a dog.

Toyota Quantum

Once used almost exclusively in the public transport sector, the all-new Quantum has turned things up a notch in terms of luxury and is now appealing to those in the private vehicle market. The VX-spec models are available in six or nine-seat configurations, meaning a large family and multiple dogs can come along for a journey.

RAV4

The RAV4 is an iconic product within the Toyota stable, and despite not being the most capacious inside, there is still 733-litres of loading space, a hard-wearing interior and clever packaging, although we would not recommend it for a large family with a dog, but rather a small family and their canine companion.

Toyota Rumion

The Rumion is the Toyota product that offers the most amount of space per Rand, offering seven seats and a boot that varies between 153 to 550 to 803-litres of boot space, making it good for a family and their dog, on a budget.
