Getting a jumpstart on proceedings

The answer is twofold: Yes, you can jump-start an automatic car with jumper cables or a portable battery booster. The procedure is the same as in a recent video we’ve done, which we’ll link in the description.

However, the term “push-start” is sometimes mixed up with “jump-start” and this is where the other answer comes in: You can’t push-start a vehicle with an automatic transmission, as the drivetrain design doesn’t allow for this. If you are stuck in an automatic, rather call for a rollback tow truck, or at least a tow truck that will lift your automatic car’s driven wheels off the ground.
