Volvo EX30 Cross Country headed to South Africa

Volvo Car South Africa has confirmed the much-anticipated arrival of the all-electric EX30 Cross Country, which will hit local shores in the third quarter of 2025. As the more off-road-ready version of the EX30, here's what to expect.

The EX30 Cross Country takes the foundation of the standard EX30 and adds some off-road aesthetics.

Range

With a 69kWh battery (65 kWh usable), the brand claims a range of up to 427km on a single charge and can charge from 10-80% in 26 minutes.

Off-road updates

  • Increased Ground Clearance: The EX30 Cross Country offers 195mm of ground clearance, some 17mm more than the standard car

  • Wheels: It comes with larger wheels and an option for 18-inch all-terrain accessory tyres

  • Standard All-Wheel Drive: The Cross Country will only offer a dual-motor all-wheel drive option.

Design

The Cross Country takes a rather minimalist design and adds some off-road elements. The front shield and boot lid features are darkened, with the front showcasing special artwork inspired by the topography of Sweden’s Arctic Kebnekaise mountain range. Chunky front and rear skid plates and wheel arch extensions complete the look.

Connectivity

As with all new Volvo cars, the EX30 Cross Country features Google built-in. It claims to offer navigation in even the most remote natural locations, with access to Google Maps. A Volvo EX30 app also allows owners to precondition their vehicle's cabin and check other vehicle-related settings.

Launch date

We're attending the local launch in the middle of August 2025, so stay tuned for more information on the EX30 Cross Country!
