Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Goes Hybrid in SA: Specs & Pricing Revealed
Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) has expanded its flagship Land Cruiser 300 lineup with the arrival of new 3.5-litre twin-turbo petrol hybrid (HEV) models. The latest update brings more power and improved efficiency to the iconic full-size SUV.
What’s new under the bonnet?
At the core of the new hybrid variants is a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine paired with Toyota’s compact HEV system.
Power & Torque: A massive 341 kW and 790 Nm (combined output)
Gearbox: 10-speed automatic
Fuel Consumption: Claimed 10.0 L/100 km (a notable improvement over equivalent non-hybrid petrol models)
The hybrid model includes a waterproof 1 500W AC inverter located under the centre console, allowing you to power camping gear, appliances, or tools directly from the vehicle.
Revised model lineup & cosmetic updates
The introduction of the hybrid reshuffles the Land Cruiser 300 range:
ZX Trim: Now offered exclusively with the new hybrid powertrain (replacing the previous non-hybrid petrol and diesel ZX models).
GR-S Trim: The adventure-focused GR-S will get the HEV powertrain later this year, alongside the continuing 3.3-litre V6 diesel option.
GX-R Trim: Continues strictly as the entry-point 3.3-litre V6 diesel.
Across the broader range, Toyota has refreshed the exterior colour palette by adding Magnetite Black and Classic White.
