Need to know basis

The latest addition to Chery's SA lineup is a new derivative of the popular Tiggo 4 Pro. This updated vehicle is now fitted with a 7-speed DCT transmission. It receives an updated centre console that adds storage space, a 15W wireless charging pad, a touch-screen climate control panel, and an improved infotainment system that sports a higher resolution screen and wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay services.

The engine produces 108kW and 210Nm that is sent through the front wheels, and, from our week with the vehicle, the DCT improves the driving experience on offer. Gone is the drone of the CVT, and in its place, a relatively slick-shifting gearbox.

How much are car repayments on a new Chery Tiggo 4 DCT?

1. Drivetrain

The entire Tiggo 4 Pro range is powered by a 1.5l turbo petrol engine and offers 3 drive options: a 5-speed manual, a CVT (Continous Variable Transmission) and a 7-speed DCT. The power output from the engine is healthy, 108kW and 210Nm, and the Tiggo 4 can reach a top speed of 185 km an hour.

2. Safety

The Tiggo 4 Pro range was crash-tested by the C-NCAP assessment programme in 2015, and it achieved a 4-Star rating, although we would like to see a more recent evaluation. The model tested comes with ABS, 6 airbags, hill start assist, traction and stability control, and hill descent control. The new DCT model has a 360-degree camera, PDC(Park Distance Control), and various driver assistance systems.

3. Warranty

Chery offers a market-leading warranty on its vehicles. It initially offered a 5-year / 150 000km warranty but will now offer a 1 000 000km / 10-year engine warranty provided the terms and conditions are adhered to as set out below. This means that if you follow the warranty terms and conditions, the engine will be covered for an additional 5 years or 850 000km, whichever occurs first.

This policy applies:

  • To the original owner only.
  • This warranty applies to vehicles serviced, maintained, and repaired with Chery original parts by a Chery-approved dealer or service centre only.
  • To vehicles that never missed or were late for a service. (No exceptions)
  • To vehicles of which the service, maintenance and repair history is traceable on Chery’s system. Chery advises you to ensure that your dealer updates the Chery system every time your vehicle visits the repair and service centres or departments.
  • To all vehicles except vehicle used, in extreme conditions, for taxis and security vehicles.
