The Tiggo 4 Pro entered the local market at a pocket-friendly price but has since enjoyed a mild refresh.

Thinking about buying one? Here are a few things you need to know about it.

1. New DCT gearbox boosts performance and efficiency

A new DCT option has been added to the range, offering a more engaging driving experience and improved fuel economy. Chery engineers report nearly a 1.6-litre per 100 km improvement in fuel efficiency compared to the CVT but my colleague Sean reported 7.8 litres per 100 km in his review, here.

2. Improved fuel economy for CVT transmissions

Chery says they are currently testing new fuel-saving software that will soon be available for Tiggo 4 Pro CVT owners too:

Another fact that will be noticed is how Chery is not only focusing on the improvement for the new product, rather the team is duly dedicated on optimizing the driving experience and fuel consumption for the previous T4 buyer. There is a new software update for the Tiggo4Pro CVT version which is currently being tested. Chery South Africa has invited several customers privately to join the test team. Initial results show a significant improvement in fuel consumption tests on actual South African roads. This new software will soon be available to customers – a true testament to Chery’s commitment to customer orientation. - Chery SA

3. Enhanced interior technology

The Tiggo 4 Pro DCT benefits from interior and technology upgrades. This includes a redesigned centre console with extra storage and a 15W wireless charging pad (Elite model only). Both Elite and Elite SE trims receive a touchscreen air conditioning system and a high-resolution infotainment screen with features like offline navigation, RDS radio, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.

The Chery Tiggo 4 DCT has recently joined our long-term test fleet; you can read more about it here.
