The current generation of Audi’s Q7 is the second in the brand’s history and has been available since 2015. The Q7 shares its superb MLBevo platform with the likes of the Volkswagen Touareg, the Lamborghini Urus, the Porsche Cayenne, the Bentley Bentayga and Audi’s own Q8, too.
The updated version of the Q7 made its local debut late in 2020, offering an enhanced version of what was already one of the segment-leaders within the large premium SUV segment. We have found 10 optional extras that we feel should be specified when you are going about purchasing a new Q7.
1.S line design package
Even though we are focussing on the non-performance-oriented Q7 models today, the addition of the S line design package adds sportier front and rear bumpers and side skirts, larger air intakes, a black front grille with silver vertical slats, a spoiler,20-inch alloy wheels and adaptive air suspension.
2.Comfort package- R33 200
For a relatively low sum, the Comfort Package adds niceties such as all-wheel steering, aluminium-look interior with black buttons and adaptive cruise control. The package also includes the rear bench seat plus which includes the ability to fold sections of the rear seat, to adjust the backrest angle of the seat, a centre armrest and an ISOFIX child seat tether for all three seats.
3.S line interior package
Since we have selected the S line exterior package, we feel that the addition of the S line on the interior would round-off the aesthetics of the Q7. This package includes s line emblems throughout the cabin, brushed aluminium inserts, front sport seats, black headliner, stainless steel footrest and pedals and aluminium scuff plates both front and rear with the ‘S’ logo.
4.Pearl effect paint-R18 380
Audi offers just one pearl effect paint option in the Q7. The hue is called Daytona Gray Pearlescent which is sure to make your Q7 stand out from the crowd with its eye-catching reflective properties.
5.22-inch 5-arm trapezoidal style Anthracite Black alloy wheels-R36 000
Even though the S line package adds sporty 20-inch wheels to the Q7 package, there are a variety of alloy wheel options from Audi Sport, the biggest of which are the 22-inch items.
6.Matrix LED headlamps and LED rear combination lamps-R19 900
The Matrix LED headlights offer highly adaptive lighting which makes use of the vehicle’s camera system. The function of these items include; optically enhanced daytime running lights, low beam, high beam, position light, dynamic turn signal light, cornering light, all-weather light to reduce self-glare in poor visibility, manoeuvring light, motorway light and automatic dynamic headlight range control. The taillights include dynamic turn signal: turn signal, brake, tail, reversing and rear LED number plate lights.
7.Panoramic glass sunroof-R29 100
The large glass surface area of the panoramic roof extends from the front to the rear window, allowing for more light to enter the vehicle. The electrically operated sunroof also includes tinted glass as well as a sunblind.
8.Sports contour, flat-bottomed, leather-wrapped steering wheel -R1 650
Flat-bottomed steering wheels, when executed as beautifully as seen on modern Audi product most certainly add to the visual appeal of a vehicle’s interior. This is a ‘must tick' option.
9. Lane change warning including Audi pre sense rear, exit warning system and rear cross-traffic assist- R14 200
Semi-autonomous driving functions can be instrumental in reducing accidents, both major and minor, so the addition of the lane change warning and the various early detection systems are certain to add to the luxury of a Q7.
10.Bang & Olufsen premium sound system-R15 700
With 19 loudspeakers with 3D functionality, a 730 watt 16-channel amplifier and a central speaker and subwoofer, the Bang & Olufsen sound system available in the Q7 is among the best you are likely to experience within the automotive world.
