Mercedes-AMG Driving Academy
The Mercedes-AMG Driving Academy is situated at Zwartkops Raceway near Pretoria. The academy offers a host of driving courses ranging from student courses for better defensive and skid driving all the way up to AMG performance training, where you learn to safely set some incredible lap times in very powerful vehicles.
Mercedes-Benz South Africa invited Springbok rugby players and friends of the brand to attend the training, and quickly, the competitive streaks came out. While some players quickly dominated the skid pan, others performed better on track. But all that took part agreed on how much fun and enlightening the day was.
Mercedes-Benz friends of the brand meet fans
After their day out in the sun, Jaden Hendrikse, Kurt-Lee Arendse, Lukhanyo Am, Makazole Mapimpi, Canan Moodie, Eben Etzebeth and Vincent Koch joined many fans and other friends of the brand at the Mercedes-Benz Menlyn branch. They went onto the stage and shared many funny stories about their time during training as well as during the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
Those who spent a day behind the wheel at Zwartkops also shared which cars they enjoyed most and their favourite activities. Eben Etzebeth also shared a funny anecdote where he said that he told one of the Mercedes-Benz team members that he likes the Mercedes-AMG GLS63. That team member told him via messages while he was in France that if the Springboks win the World Cup, they will ensure he gets to drive a Mercedes-AMG GLS63 when he returns. Apparently, he told the rest of the team that they needed to win because he wanted to drive that car.
Last but not least, they shared how inspired they were by the spirit of the South African supporters and that they would constantly get messages and tagged in videos that motivated them even more. They even found places in France that were playing famous South African dance music during their travels.
