Mahindra Bolero MaXX Pik-Up Launched in SA: Specs and Pricing

Mahindra South Africa has expanded its commercial vehicle lineup with the local introduction of the Bolero MaXX Pik-Up. Built on one of the brand's most recognised nameplates in South Africa, the new single-cab range is engineered specifically to deliver a low cost-per-kilometre (CPK) for fleet operators, small business owners, and agricultural operations.

The Bolero MaXX series will sell alongside Mahindra's existing Pik Up S4 and S6 ranges, giving buyers a broader selection of purpose-built transport solutions depending on load requirements and cruising speeds.

Powertrain

Powering the Bolero MaXX range is Mahindra's 2.5-litre m2Di turbodiesel engine, paired with a five-speed manual gearbox driving the rear wheels.

  • City 1.3 & City 1.5: Deliver 52 kW and 200 Nm of torque.

  • 1.7 HD (Heavy Duty): Offers an upgraded 60 kW and 220 Nm of torque.

Efficiency and uptime are central to the platform strategy. Mahindra claims a fuel consumption figure from 5.9 L/100 km, supported by extended 20 000 km service intervals to keep operational costs low.

Practicality & load capacity

Despite offering heavy payload ratings, all variants in the Bolero MaXX lineup can be driven with a standard Code B (Class 8) driver’s licence

Every variant is designed to accommodate a standard pallet between the rear wheel arches:

  • Bolero MaXX City 1.3: Features a 2.5-metre load body with a 1 300 kg payload capacity.

  • Bolero MaXX City 1.5: Upgrades to a 2.64-metre load bed with a 1 500 kg payload capacity.

  • Bolero MaXX HD 1.7: Top-tier Heavy Duty variant with a 3.05-metre load bed carrying up to 1 700 kg.

Interior & safety

While built primarily as a workhorse, there are a few convenience and safety upgrades across the cab. The interior utilises a driver-plus-two seating configuration with cloth upholstery.

  • Comfort & cabin features: The 1.5 City and 1.7 HD variants feature stain-resistant seats, a height- and reach-adjustable driver’s seat with reclining functionality, standard air conditioning, a lockable air-cooled glovebox, and a 12V power socket.

  • Safety gear: Rear parking sensors are fitted across the entire range. The 1.5 City and 1.7 HD models add ABS brakes, strong metal bumpers, emergency locking retractor (ELR) seatbelts, an engine immobiliser, and underbody/side protection for the HD model.

Pricing & warranty

The Bolero MaXX range is sold through Mahindra’s network of over 100 dealerships nationwide. All models come standard with a 4-year / 120 000 km warranty and roadside assistance. Optional fixed-cost service plans are available.
