Applying for finance or even acquiring pre-approval for vehicle finance is something that most South Africans will do in their lifetime. Most of us will ask about our interest rate as well as any hidden fees and costs before signing the contract between us, as the buyer and the financial institution, as the lender. How many of us read a contract in its entirety, though? What happens if you want a copy of that contract, whether it be when you sign the contract, or months or even years after signing?
It turns out that this is quite a simple process, where you simply request a copy of the contract upon signing it, after which the financial institution will send you a copy once the account has been activated. There is no clear-cut time in which it takes for an account to be activated, but expect this to be a few working days. Similarly, with an active account, you can request a copy from the customer service section of your financial institution, which will give you a timeframe to expect the copy to be sent to you.
