According to the Automobile Association (AA), the fuel outlook for June is expected to be positive for consumers, despite the recent weakening of the Rand. The AA has analyzed mid-month data from the Central Energy Fund (CEF) and predicts significant reductions in fuel prices across the board, thanks to lower international product prices.

Despite the weaker Rand, both grades of petrol are still likely to see decreases of around R1 per litre with diesel prices expected to decrease by approximately R1.30 per litre. The data also indicates that illuminating paraffin, an important fuel during this time of the year, is set to decrease by around 80 cents.
“These decreases are positive and will ease pressure on our economy and on consumers. Of course, this is only one indicator, and we cannot ignore higher interest rates and food prices but a decrease in fuel costs will make a difference to many,” the AA says.
