BMW has expanded its special edition line-up with the launch of the BMW M2 CS, and BMW SA has confirmed that it's coming to local shores!

Another small turbocharged BMW!
The M2 CS continues a lineage that began with the BMW 2002 turbo, followed by the BMW 1 Series M Coupé, and the first-generation BMW M2, including its initial CS variant in 2019. This latest iteration is built on the second generation of the BMW M2, but with more performance!
More Power, Less Weight
Under the bonnet, the M2 CS boasts an upgraded 3.0-litre S58 six-cylinder engine. The model now produces 390kW, a 37kW increase over the current M2. This puts the M2 CS on par with the BMW M3 Competition and BMW M4 Competition. Torque has also seen a bump, increasing by 50Nm to 650Nm.
BMW M GmbH has shed 30 kilograms from the standard M2 through extensive use of carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) for numerous exterior and interior components, including the M Carbon roof and CS-specific rear diffuser. Forged M light-alloy wheels also contribute to the weight reduction.
Performance Figures
The CS completes the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in a claimed 3.8 seconds, 0.2 seconds faster than the standard M2. From a standstill to 200 km/h, the M2 CS takes 11.7 seconds, a reduction of 1.2 seconds. With the M Driver's Package fitted as standard, the top speed is electronically limited to 302 km/h.
Updates
The chassis has been lowered by 8mm and features bespoke tuning for its springs, dampers, and control systems. The standard adaptive M chassis, M Servotronic steering, M Sport differential, and integrated braking system have all been given a model-specific setup.
An M Compound braking system with red brake callipers is standard, and an M Carbon ceramic brake system is available as an option. Forged M light-alloy wheels, finished in matte Gold Bronze, measure 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear and are fitted with standard track tyres for optimal grip.
Design
The M2 CS's aggressive exterior is instantly recognisable with its numerous CFRP components, including the M Carbon roof and CS-specific rear diffuser. A matte black front splitter, black BMW M kidney grille with optimised air inlets, and a lightweight CFRP boot lid with an integrated ducktail complete the look—the "M2 CS" logo on the rear features a red outline.
Interior
Inside, the centre console is made from CFRP, while lightweight heated M Carbon bucket seats with an illuminated "CS" logo are stand-out features. The M Alcantara steering wheel is another nice touch.
Local availability
The BMW M2 CS is set to arrive in South Africa in the second quarter of 2026.
