After many years of turbocharged internal combustion engines, the FIA World Rallycross Championship has gone electric. Here's what you need to know about these EV racing machines ahead of the Cape Town round of the championship!

In a quest for more performance, closer racing and lower emissions, the FIA World Rallycross Championship has shifted from internal combustion power to all-electric performance. Since the Championship is coming to local shores soon, we've had a look at what these new racing machines have to offer, and here's what we discovered.

Identical cars

The cars being raced at the Cape Town and Hong Kong rounds of the championship are the ZEROID X1-spec vehicles, and their specifications will be announced during the racing weekend! The eight drivers set to compete in Cape Town look to have their hands full with the all-electric performance! Since all of the cars are identical, the Cape Town and Hong Kong rounds of the championship all come down to the driver, making the racing incredibly tight and, subsequently, massively exciting to watch.
